day 22

One way to get more bible in your life is to order the Magnificat.  There are several versions of this and I’ll be honest, I don’t know much about their differences or why you would choose one over another.  Here is one example.  My husband reads the Magnificat every morning and every evening.  I’m more of a “just read my bible” kinda gal so I don’t always get to the Magnificat but when I do, I’m always pleasantly surprised.

I love the commentary and the information about the saint for the day.  I enjoy the readings and the special prayers.  I have been thinking about ordering a second copy so I can take it to daily Mass with me.  It’s hard for me to hear (and process) the readings when I have three kids with me.  I think it’d be easier for me to follow along if I had the Magnificat with me.  I’ve also been thinking about trying out Magnifikid for my almost 5 year old.

What’s best about the Magnificat is that it involves no extra thinking.  Open it up, flip to where you want to be and BAM there ya go, your bible reading for the day.  Easy peasy.  Sometimes we need that in our life.  And hey, anyway you get more bible in your day, is a good thing!

MY BIBLE REFLECTION:

“In this you rejoice, although now for a little while you may have to suffer through various trials, so that the genuineness of your faith, more precious than gold that is perishable even though tested by fire, may prove to be for praise, glory , and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.”

Whew!  Is anyone else feeling tested these days?  Man, it seems like the more I try to do for Jesus, the more the world fights to crowd in front.  Spiritual warfare is real.  In fact, one of the ways I know I’m doing something good, is when all sorts of weird things go wrong at once.  The devil hates it when we go out into the world to try to win souls for Christ.  He’s going to get in our way and usually in very sneaky and distracting ways.

I mean it’d be easier if we encountered gross looking demons, then we’d be strong.  But instead he tempts us with subtle things.  Little distractions that might even seem like good deeds but that get in the way of our giving our best to God.  But evil cannot live in the light.  The more we take Jesus and treat Him like a big flashlight and shine him in our hearts and our minds (especially by reading the bible and praying) the harder it is for the devil to sway us.

So shine on ladies!  You shine your light for Christ!
