day 17

We were fortunate to know someone who had handcrafted a kneeler and gave it to us as a present.  At the time, I didn’t know how much I would come to love this little piece of furniture in our home.  It has light green padding where you kneel and a place to put a book at the top.  I love seeing my girls there looking up at Mary and Jesus and whispering sweet prayers to them. At least I hope that’s what they’re chatting about 😉

So when was the last time you read your bible on your knees?  It’s an interesting experience.  Putting your body in such a submissive and prayerful position really helps you focus on God’s message for you.  If you don’t have a kneeler, you can still use a pillow and kneel down.  I think we often fall into the trap of just praying to God in our minds.  By using our whole body to focus on His word, we enter into a special place, a more focused face.  We really give ourselves over to the moment.

Try it out.  If you’ve never done it, it’ll be a new way to read the bible!

MY BIBLE REFLECTION:

“Therefore, he is always able to save those who approach God through him, since he lives forever to make intercession for them.” Hebrews 8:25

In this passage they’re talking about how Jesus came so our sins could be forgiven through Him, forever.  This is so amazing.  It’s beautiful.  It’s powerful.  It’s everything.

I’m guilty of forgetting this unbelievable thing that Jesus has done for me.  I take it for granted sometimes.  I don’t always process that the wages of sin is death.  Death.  I deserve death but because of Jesus, I can be forgiven and I can spend eternity in Heaven.

I’ve been thinking about Heaven a lot lately.  I used to never think about it.  In fact, I used to doubt its existence.  That’s a long story I’ll share another time.  But lately I’ve been thinking about every person I meet as someone I’d like to see in Heaven.    My heart breaks a little at the idea that anyone wouldn’t make it to Heaven.  How can we touch the lives of those around us to ensure that they make it to Heaven?

I don’t have the answer but I’m going to keep thinking about it and I’m going to keep trying.  We must fight for eternity ladies.
